Great Positives in Denmark
This week was a highly positive experience for the NextUp Golf Team, especially for Mats Ege and Kristoffer Reitan, they were both in contention right up until the final nine holes on the last day. Kristoffer has been on an impressive upward trend lately, and he played some excellent golf throughout the tournament. On day two, Friday, he delivered a strong round of five under par, one of the best rounds of the day in very windy conditions. Kristoffer himself stated that it was one of the best rounds he has ever played in his career, which is a clear sign that he is working on the right things in his game.
During the third round, Kristoffer handled the pressure exceptionally well, especially considering that he played alongside Nicolai Højgaard, one of Denmark’s top favorites, in front of a large crowd. He delivered a solid two-under-par round, putting him in a perfect position for Sunday’s finale. However, Sunday proved to be a challenging day. Unfortunately, Kristoffer didn’t have his A game on Sunday and made some costly mistakes, Despite this setback, we can sum up the week by saying that Kristoffer has made significant progress, returning to compete at a high level on the DP World Tour after a few years away.
Our other NextUp player, Mats Ege, also delivered strong performances. Mats played consistently throughout the tournament and demonstrated his potential. He had a strong third round, with four under par, positioning him well for a top finish. During the final round, Mats was in great form, sitting at three under par with just a few holes left. Unfortunately, a double bogey on the last hole cost him a top finish, but he still secured a very respectable 23rd place. Mats was playing on an invitation and is now working towards earning a ranking for next season on the DP World Tour.
We operated as a team, with shared dinners, practice rounds, and staying together in one house. This is something we plan to do more of, and I have great faith in the guys on the NextUp team. If we can continue this positive trend, and help the players with playing opportunities the future looks very promising.
Best regards,
Peter
