Shaping the Future of Norwegian Golf: NEXTUP GOLF TEAM
As the Head of Sports at Team Nextup, I've had the unique privilege of steering an initiative that's close to my heart and vital for the future of Norwegian golf. Our journey began with a simple yet profound goal: to create a nurturing environment that bridges the gap for Norwegian golfers transitioning to professional play. The path has been both challenging and rewarding, offering us an opportunity to reflect on what it truly means to support emerging talent.
At Team Nextup, we recognize the challenges that young athletes face. Beyond the technical skills required to excel in golf, there's a significant need for mental strength, strategic cleverness, and the right opportunities to compete at the highest levels. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive support system that addresses these needs, fostering an environment where talent can truly flourish.
The Nextup Approach
Our approach is holistic, focusing not just on financial support but on creating a culture of development and growth. This, combined with our strategic focus on selecting athletes who are not only talented but also dedicated to their personal and professional development, forms the cornerstone of our program.
Through initiatives like the Nextup Invitational, the team aims to inspire, recruit, and showcase the burgeoning talent within Norway, potentially laying the groundwork for future international competitions hosted in the nation.
We’re extremely lucky to have Viktor Hovland as part of the team as a mentor. Viktor is a unique guy in many ways, he is one of the world's best golfers, but above all he is a smart and caring guy. He genuinely cares about the others on the team, whether it's a conversation where you discuss something technical or whether it's out on a training session, he is always 100% present and gives his opinions. He is a fantastic mentor, even before we started the team he has shared his experiences with those who have been around him.
As we look to the future, our focus remains on expanding our support and ensuring that Team Nextup becomes a beacon for aspiring golfers in Norway. We're committed to overcoming challenges, such as training facilities and access to year-round play, by innovating and finding solutions that will enable our athletes to train and compete under the best conditions.
