Team NextUp: A Gathering of Stars and Hopeful Talents
Team NextUp is a unique connection that unites Norway's best professional players, up-and-coming amateurs, and their coaches. Through regular meetings, continuous dialogue, and a dynamic digital community, we aim for collective knowledge exchange and motivation building.
Mentoring and Inspiration: Viktor Hovland's Role and the NextUp Junior Challenge
At the core of our project is Viktor Hovland as a mentor, a role model showing the way to the top. We also have a special focus on inspiring and motivating Norwegian junior players, primarily through the NextUp Invitational to be held at Oslo Golfklubb in week 30, 2024.
Integration with the Norwegian Golf Federation
Team NextUp complements the existing initiatives of the Norwegian Golf Federation and the individual players' college programs and support teams. We believe in the synergy created through collaboration and joint efforts.
The Team's Members and Their First Meeting
The team consists of three professional players – Kristoffer Reitan, Kristoffer Ventura, Kristian Krogh Johannessen – and three amateur players – Herman Sekne, Mats Ege, Michael Mjaaseth. The team had its first successful meeting in Jupiter, Florida, in November.
Our Background and Vision
Golf is one of the fastest-growing sports in Norway, gaining significant popularity, especially among young people aged 13-26. This is partly due to the attention generated by Viktor Hovland's success. Despite a strong tradition of developing skilled amateur players, the transition to the professional level has often been a challenge. NextUp Golf seeks to bridge this gap, offering a framework for both sporting and financial support.
